Alva He

Alva leads recruiting at Prevail, and is usually the first person you'll hear from after applying. Before this, she spent years recruiting across corporate, startups, and government programs, including time at Amazon, AWS, and Adobe, across both technical and non-technical roles. This breadth of experience gives her a clear sense of what different teams actually need, what candidates from any background bring to the table, and where culture fit really matters. Expect straightforward communication, honest answers about the role, realistic timelines, and someone who stays engaged with you from the first email through to the offer.

What to expect: our interview process

Interviewing takes time, and we don't take that lightly. The exact steps vary a little by role, but here's the general shape of things.

  1. Resume review

Our talent partner and hiring managers assess your resume and other skills-based information (from LinkedIn, GitHub, design portfolios, and more) to determine if your background matches the qualifications of the role. Qualified candidates are contacted within one business week of applying to schedule a talent screening call.

  2. Talent screening call

You'll start with a conversation with Alva, our Talent Partner. We want to learn about your background, skillset, and interest in Prevail, as well as what you're looking for next. You'll get a clear picture of the role and what it's actually like to work here, and you'll also have the chance to ask about our culture and interview process.

  3. Team interview

Next you'll meet the team you'd actually be working with. Expect real conversation about how you approach problems, not trick questions. Technical and court reporting roles usually include a practical exercise.

  4. Leadership conversation

For most roles, you'll speak with a member of our leadership team. It's a chance to hear where Prevail is headed and ask candid questions before deciding if it's the right fit for you.

  5. Reference checks

We take references seriously. Not as a formality, but to understand how you do your best work and to make sure Prevail is a place where you can actually thrive.

  6. Final decision

We move quickly once the process wraps up. The hiring manager and interviewers meet to debrief after all candidates for the role have been interviewed, and we'll follow up with the hiring manager's decision. If we extend an offer, our Talent Partner will work with you on logistics, paperwork, compensation, and anything else you need.
